How an individual family constellation works

step by step

An individual constellation takes place without a group: just you, the practitioner and a few markers placed on the floor. Here is how this time of work actually unfolds.

Family constellations start from a simple idea: each of us belongs to a family system, and certain untold or unacknowledged stories can continue to weigh on our choices, our relationships or our sense of being in our place. A constellation makes it possible to look at these links differently, based on what you feel.

In an individual session, there is no group and no family member in the room. The work is done one-to-one, using markers placed on the floor or figurines representing the people or elements of the situation.

1. Starting from a question

Everything begins with what brings you here: a recurring situation, a difficult relationship, an unease you cannot quite name. We take the time to formulate a clear question, because it guides the whole session.

2. A few elements of family history

You do not need to know your whole family history. A few landmarks are often enough: an early death, a separation, a child who is rarely spoken of, a departure, a secret. What you do not know is also part of the path.

3. Setting up

The people concerned are represented by markers on the floor or by figurines. You place them spontaneously, without thinking about what would be “right”. This first image often says a lot: who is close, who is apart, who is looking elsewhere.

4. The movement

You can then stand on these markers and observe what you feel in each place. Together we look for the shifts and, sometimes, the sentences that bring peace: acknowledging someone, giving back what does not belong to you, taking your place again.

5. Integration

You leave with an inner image to keep. The work continues to settle in the following weeks: that is why, in the Crystaluz Journey, a constellation is part of ongoing support and is not a stand-alone session.

Useful to know

  • a constellation can stir up emotions: time for integration is planned
  • it does not replace family therapy, psychotherapy or medical care
  • if you are seeing a psychologist, tell them about your approach
  • in a period of acute crisis, it is better to wait for a more stable moment

Crystaluz support is complementary and non-medical: it does not replace any medical, psychological or psychiatric care. In case of distress or emergency, contact your doctor or call 112.
